So London is ridiculously hot, I’m still here and my northern skin is struggling to handle it… anyway I made it to Clerkenwell Design Week on Thursday and it was a great show as always! Plenty to see and lots of people enjoying really great design whilst getting a tan, there were good vibes everywhere!
This year I’ve decided to share with you my top new designers to watch out for. I expect great things in the next few years for these guys and I think everyone should take some time to appreciate their awesomeness and how much they have achieved in a matter of months!
Mann made had a fantastic stand in the British Collection area. Their furniture is designed and made here in the U.K. They use industrial style materials and traditional woods to create these amazingly simple and elegant pieces. I met two of the team and asked them how long they had been up and running, they said 6-8 months!! Wow! If this is what they can achieve in that time imagine what they will be making in years to come. I’m in love with these timeless pieces and the price tag isn’t too shocking either with Edna mirrors starting at £155.
ONE NINE EIGHT FIVE
Love love love this brand. One Nine Eight Five was established by Eleanor Nadimi (again only months ago) in London. Not only was Eleanor stylishly cool herself but her collection was too! I love print and pattern and share a textiles background like Eleanor. Her use of colour is to die for and textures such as tassels inspired by high end fashion makes this collection feel sophisticated yet playful. This brand is going to be big and I’m already looking forward to the next collection.
Another London creative was Beatrice, her stand was simple and fairly small but as soon as I saw her throws hanging in the space I had to touch them! Made from the finest yarns and woven in a jacquard mill in Lancashire these throws feel and look wonderful. The bold geometric patterns and monochrome palette makes them the perfect blanket/throw for any space. I had a little chat with Beatrice and she told me she had just signed a contract to sell through Heals, I’m not surprised, she’s creating something beautifully unique here.

Thats it for another year at CDW.
