I know the British sun can be unpredictable forcing most holiday makers go in search of white sands and sangria but within Europe we have some of the most beautiful destinations, so why not do things differently this year? You may not get the glowing tan you so badly desire but you will experience culture and glamour in my top mini break destinations. I have sourced some of the most luxurious hotels to wet your appetite, but be warned you may end up spending more time in your hotel room than you thought!
Let’s start with London.
Destination – London
Dinner at The Shard, a boat trip along the Thames or a gig in Hyde Park. London has so much to offer especially in the summer months with no end of street food and festivals you’ll have plenty of opportunities to get out and about so when your shattered at the end of the day and ready to relax in a comfy bed why not book yourself in to designer heaven along the south bank.
My London featured hotel is The Mondrian designed by British legend Tom Dixon, it has to be by far one of the most exciting interiors in London ( but that’s just my opinion). Take a look for yourself.
Created in the famous sea containers along the Thames, Tom Dixon was commissioned by The Morgan’s hotel group to design a boutique hotel, bar, restaurant and cinema. He now joins the other greats who have designed for Morgans including David Chipperfield, Andree Putman and Philippe Starck. The Mondrian in London is the place to’see and be seen’, full of sumptuous velvets and Dixon’s famous collection of pendant lights it is the definition of sophisticated luxury.
Greeted at reception with a giant copper clad wall reminiscent of the hull off ship you are immediately transported away from the hustle and bustle of the London streets and into an encapsulating space.
The luxurious textures and colour palettes continue throughout the interior with panoramic views of the Thames and the most innovative cocktails and cuisine, sit back and let the deep green, gold and blush pink upholstery transport you to a world where unique design surrounds you. Whether you require schmoozing in the cocktail bar, reclining in the cinema or relaxing in your delux double, I guarantee you won’t regret booking this little escape from reality.
